Money

Is Rumsage free?

The app is free to download, and writing down what you eat, your inventory, your weight and your saved recipes stay free with no limit and no expiry. What costs money is the assistant - photo, voice and text estimates, and the AI recipes - because every answer costs us a model call. That part is a subscription, with seven days free to try it. You never need a card to install the app, and it never asks you to pay during onboarding.

Will my early-access data survive the launch?

Yes. Your account, logs and inventory carry over. Early access is the real app, not a sandbox.

The AI

How accurate is the fridge scan?

It reads shelves well, struggles with opaque containers, and guesses quantities. That is why every detection lands in a review screen first: you correct or remove items before anything is saved. Same for meal photos, where the calorie estimate is a starting point you can edit.

What about my allergies?

Allergies you set in your profile are a hard constraint for recipe generation, not a preference. Still, AI can make mistakes: always check the ingredient list yourself before cooking. Rumsage labels all AI-generated content so you know what to double-check.

Is this medical advice?

No. Calorie targets and nutrition figures are informational estimates. For medical conditions, eating disorders, or clinical diets, talk to a professional.

Privacy

Are my fridge photos stored?

No. Photos are sent for analysis, the detected items come back, and the photos are discarded. Only the item list is kept. See the privacy policy for the full picture.

Can I delete everything?

Yes, yourself, without emailing anyone: Settings, Danger zone, Delete account removes your account and every piece of data permanently.

Platform

Which devices?

iPhone (iOS 14 and later), distributed through TestFlight during early access. Apple Health can auto-fill your weight if you allow it.

Android?

The app is built on Flutter, so Android is technically close. It ships if early access shows enough demand, and joining the waitlist is the honest way to vote for it.

Does it work offline?

You can browse what is already loaded, but scanning, logging and recipe generation need a connection. The AI runs server-side.
